Replacement of ATF of automatic transmission

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Replacement of ATF has to be made on a regular basis, according to the Schedule of routine maintenance of the car (see the Section Schedule of Routine Maintenance of Subaru Legacy and Outback Cars). As transmission liquid remains hot still long time after end of a trip before starting procedure performance, wait for full cooling of the engine (3-4 hours).
2. Prepare fresh transmission liquid of the corresponding grade (see Specifications at the beginning of the Head).
3. Treat number of other tools and materials, necessary for performance of the forthcoming procedure: podkatny (cart) jack, props for fixing of the car in the lifted situation, the drain capacity not less than 10 l and a stock of rags and old newspapers.
4. Park the car on an equal horizontal platform with a hard coating, and establish to its poddomkratta on props, having provided a free access to a drain stopper of the pallet of a case of transmission.
5. At the corresponding complete set of the car remove protection of a case of transmission.

6. Get the drain capacity and all necessary stock under the pallet. Try not to touch the warmed components of the power unit and system of production of the fulfilled gases located under the car bottom. Having placed properly reception container, turn out a drain stopper. When the liquid effluence completely stops, wipe a stopper, screw it on the regular place and tighten with the demanded effort (24.5 Nanometers), - do not forget to replace a sealing washer.

7. Gas station of fresh ATF is made through a control/jellied opening in which stopper the measuring probe is built in. Fill in ATF to the middle of working range of the "cold" party of an edge of the measuring probe.

8. Transfer transmission to situation "P", cock the parking brake and start the engine.
9. Having serially carried out the AT selector lever through all provisions, return it to situation "P". Wait until ATF gets warm up to the temperature about 60 ÷ 80 °C, then check liquid level on the "hot" party of the probe. In case of need make the corresponding adjustment.
10. During the first several days of operation of the car try to look regularly under the car, checking transmission for existence of signs of development of leaks. Double-check the ATF level, in case of need make adjustment.
