Schedule of routine maintenance of Subaru Legacy and Outback cars

The intervals of routine maintenance of the car stipulated in the present Section are calculated on independent performance by the owner of the vehicle of all necessary procedures. Duration of intervals was defined proceeding from the assumption that the car is operated in the daily mode. Constantly to support the vehicle in dive of a form, some of procedures at desire of the owner can be carried out slightly more often. Authors of the present manual are sure that receiving the maximum return from the power unit of the car and its other knots and systems can achieve only on condition of a conscientious attitude of the owner to care of the vehicle. It is worth to remember as well about need of maintenance of a trade dress of the car on a case of its resale.

At operation of the car in the conditions of strongly dusty district, an intense city cycle (frequent short trips), and also at frequent towage of the trailer, intervals of performance of procedures of routine maintenance have to be, whenever possible, reduced to a minimum.

Servicing of the new vehicle, in order to avoid violation of factory guarantee certificates, has to be made at firm car repair shop of the company manufacturer of the car.

Through the first 1600 km (1000 miles) of run

· Check installation of quality of mix of idling (for models without catalytic converter) (see the Section Check and adjustment of composition of mix of idling, - a stern of the models equipped with the catalytic converter).
· Check serviceability of functioning of the antiretractable device (see the Section Check and adjustment of the antiretractable device).

Through the first 5000 km (3000 miles) of run

· Make replacement of motive oil and an oil filter (only for models of 3.0 l with the GRM chain drive) (see the Section Replacement of Motive Oil and Oil Filter).

Through each 12 500 km (7500 miles) of run or times in 12 months (that will come earlier)

· Make replacement of motive oil and an oil filter (for all models) (see the Section Replacement of Motive Oil and Oil Filter).
· Check a condition of the hoses laid in a motive compartment (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of the hoses located in a motive compartment) *.
· Make rotation of wheels (see the Section Rotation of Wheels) *.
· Grease chassis components (see the Section Greasing of Components of the Chassis) *.
· Check a condition of components of system of production of the fulfilled gases (see the Section Check of a Condition of Components of System of Production of the Fulfilled Gases) *.
· Check a condition of seat belts (see the Section Check of a Condition of Seat Belts) *.

Through each 25 000 km (15 000 miles) of run or times in 12 months (that will come earlier)

· Check a condition of elements of a suspension bracket (see the Section Check of a Condition of Components of a Suspension Bracket).
· Check a condition of components of a steering (see the Section Check of a Condition of Components of the Steering Drive).
· Check installation of turns and quality of mix of idling (for models without catalytic converter) (see the Section Check and adjustment of composition of mix of idling, - a stern of the models equipped with the catalytic converter).
· Check a condition of protective covers and hinges of power shafts (see the Section Check of a Condition of Protective Covers of Hinges of Power Shafts).
· Check a condition of a belt(s) of the drive of auxiliary units (see the Section Check of a State, adjustment of effort of a tension of belts of the drive of auxiliary units).
· Check serviceability of functioning of the antiretractable device (see the Section Check and adjustment of the antiretractable device).
· Check a condition of components of coupling (see the Section Check of Serviceability of Functioning and Adjustment of Components of Coupling).
· Check a condition of brake disks and brake shoes, in case of need make replacement (see the Section of Check and adjustment of brake system).
· Check serviceability of functioning of the parking brake (see the Section of Check and adjustment of brake system).
· Check a condition of the filtering air cleaner element (see the Section Replacement of the Filtering Air Cleaner Element).

Through each 50 000 km (30 000 miles) of run or times in 24 months (that will come earlier)

In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:

· Check a condition of brake boots and drums (for models till 2001 of release), in case of need make replacement (see the Section of Check and adjustment of brake system).
· Make check and service of the cooling system (depletion, washing and filling freshen cooling liquid) (see the Sections Check of a Condition of Components of the Cooling System and Check of a State and replacement of cooling liquid of the engine).
· Make replacement of the filtering air cleaner element (see the Section Replacement of the Filtering Air Cleaner Element).
· Check a condition of a power supply system (see the Section Check of a Condition of Components of a Power Supply System).
· Check a condition of brake lines and make replacement of brake fluid (see Sections of Check and adjustment of brake system and Replacement of brake liquid / pumping of a hydraulic path).
· Make replacement of ATF (see the Section Replacement of ATF of automatic transmission).
· Make replacement of the RKPP transmission oil (see the Section Replacement of the RKPP Transmission Oil).
· Make replacement of greasing of forward and back differentials (see the Section Replacement of Greasings of Back and Forward Differential).
· Make replacement of spark plugs (for l models 2.0 and 2.5) (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of Spark Plugs and Electrical Wiring VV).

Through each 100 000 km (60 000 miles) of run or times in 48 months (that will come earlier)

In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:

· Make replacement of a gas-distributing belt (for l models 2.0 and 2.5) (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of a Gas-distributing Belt - l models 2.0 and 2.5).
· Check a condition of a power supply system and make replacement of the fuel filter (see the Sections Check and replacement of the fuel filter).
· Make replacement of spark plugs (for models of 3.0 l) (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of Spark Plugs and Electrical Wiring VV).
· Check a condition of wheel bearings, in case of need make stuffing them fresh greasing (it is recommended for safe operation of the car) (see the Section Check of Wheel Bearings).
· Check valvate gaps (for the European models) (see the Section Check of Valvate Gaps).

Through each 160 000 km (100 000 miles) of run

· Check valvate gaps (for not the European models) (see the Section Check of Valvate Gaps).
· Make replacement of a belt(s) of the drive of auxiliary units (see the Section Replacement of Belts of the Drive of Auxiliary Units and replacement).

Regular check and replacement of gas-distributing chains on models of 3.0 l is not required.

At operation of the car in strongly dusty district make replacement of the air filter more often than it is stipulated in Graphics.
The ATF filter is not served part and needs replacement only in case of its mechanical damage or leakage of ATF.

Operation of Subaru Legacy and Outback cars in intense conditions

At operation of the car in intense conditions follow the parts which are listed below to additional service stations and systems of Subaru Legacy and Outback cars:

In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsections:

· Make replacement of motive oil and an oil filter (see the Section Replacement of Motive Oil and Oil Filter) more often than it is stipulated in Graphics in the following situations:
- At frequent short trips;
- At operation of the car in the conditions of frosty climate;
- At frequent towage of the trailer.
· Check a condition of a power supply system each 12 500 km (7500 miles) of run, or time in 6 months (that will come earlier) at operation of the car in areas with the raised contents in the soil and the atmosphere of salt or other substances causing corrosion (in particular, in coastal zones).
· Make replacement of transmission RKPP/ATF oil and greasing of forward and back differentials at frequent towage of the trailer (see the Sections Replacement of ATF of automatic transmission, Replacement of the RKPP transmission oil and Replacement of greasings of back and forward differential) more often.
· Check a condition of brake system, including brake shoes, slips, disks and reels, and also the parking brake (see the Section of Check and adjustment of brake system) each 12 500 km (7500 miles) of run, or time in 6 months (that will come earlier) in the following situations:

- At frequent short trips;
- At frequent trips on the bumpy and strongly polluted roads.
- At operation of the car in areas with the raised contents in the soil and the atmosphere of salt or other substances causing corrosion (in particular, in coastal zones);
- At frequent towage of the trailer.
· Make replacement of brake fluid (see the Section Replacement of Brake Liquid / Pumping of a Hydraulic Path) each 25 000 km (15 000 miles) of run, or time in 12 months (that will come earlier) at operation of the car in the conditions of the hilly or mountain district.
· Check a condition of elements of a suspension bracket (see the Section Check of a Condition of Components of a Suspension Bracket) in the following situations more often:
- At frequent trips on the bumpy and strongly polluted roads.
- At operation of the car in the conditions of frosty climate;
- At operation of the car in areas with the raised contents in the soil and the atmosphere of salt or other substances causing corrosion (in particular, in coastal zones);
- At frequent towage of the trailer.
· Check a condition of protective covers and hinges of power shafts (see the Section Check of a Condition of Protective Covers of Hinges of Power Shafts), and also components of the steering drive (see the Section Check of a Condition of Components of the Steering Drive) each 12 500 km (7500 miles) of run, or time in 6 months (that will come earlier) in the following situations:
- At frequent short trips;
- At frequent trips on the bumpy and strongly polluted roads;
- At operation of the car in the conditions of frosty climate;
- At operation of the car in areas with the raised contents in the soil and the atmosphere of salt or other substances causing corrosion (in particular, in coastal zones);
- At frequent towage of the trailer.
