The system of additional safety (SRS) is included in the standard package of all models of cars considered in the present manual. Before starting performance of any works near blocks of safety cushions, a steering column or the dashboard, disconnect SRS in order to avoid receiving injuries at its casual operation (see the Head Onboard electric equipment)! It is easy to distinguish an electrical wiring of a chain of SRS on yellow color of isolation.

Only the most general procedures of repair and service of body components get to limits of qualification of the average amateur mechanic.

Durability and reliability

The semi-monolithic body of Legacy/Outback consists mainly of the stamped metal panels connected with each other by means of welding.

The frame design formed by a combination of longitudinal and bow-shaped cross beams forms the deformation zones absorbing the main energy of blow at emergency collisions and the rigid cabin differing in the increased resistance to shock deformations and the providing reliable protection being in salon of the driver and passengers. Some of body elements, the most vulnerable in case of accident, have bolted fixture and can be easily replaced in an individual order. Are among such removable components, bumpers, door panels, a cowl, a cover of a luggage compartment and forward wings.

The bearing beam established in a raspor between forward racks provides a reliable support of a steering column, and also serves for decrease in intensity of the vibrations transferred to a steering wheel and allows to limit the course of shift of a column at a head-on collision.

According to requirements to safety of transportations of the FMVSS255 (ISO-FIX) standard, from above on the floor panel, under lateral places of a back seat anchor brackets for fastening of a special seat (see sopr are provided. an illustration), the younger age providing reliable fixing of children.

Noise isolation

The excellent noise isolation of salon is guaranteed by a two-layer design of the majority of body panels, and also use of sound-absorbing materials in combination with the increased rigidity of a cabin. The protective bituminous covering of the bottom and the two-layer, filled with bitumen design of a back partition of a motive compartment also promote absorption of noise and provide an additional noise isolation of salon.

Coloring

Producers of Legacy/Outback cars bring to attention consumers more than ten standard color schemes of coloring of a body.

Paint is imposed in three layers (intermediate, basic and top transparent). The most part of the applied paint and varnish coverings (LKP) belongs to the Metallic type.

Open frontal surfaces and door thresholds are in addition processed by the special covering protecting the top layer of LKP from chips.

Tightness

The technological openings used at production and installation of body panels are reliably muffled that guarantees absolute tightness of salon, - check reliability of installation to the place of the corresponding caps after performance of body works. Joints and the interfaced surfaces of body panels are missed the mark with sealant, or equipped with sealing elements.

Anticorrosive protection

Practically all body panels at production are exposed to galvanic processing that considerably increases their resistance to impact of corrosion.

The anticorrosive wax structure on the basis of bitumen processes arches of wheels and lateral joints of vertical body panels with panels of a floor and frame of the car.

In addition wheel arches, the lower party of thresholds, the central panels of the bottom and the lower party of a well are processed by structure on the basis of polyvinylchloride (PVC) for a spare wheel.

All loops, locks, also face surfaces of separate body elements (a first line of a cowl, bottom edges of wings and doors/cover of a luggage compartment) become covered by protective wax structure of hot drawing.

Separate body elements are in addition protected from corrosion by special protectors.

Ventilation of salon

For the organization of effective through ventilation of salon of the car from lateral faces of a rear bumper the special, equipped with deflectors exhaust openings are provided.
