General information

The indicator lamp which is built in an instrument guard, the module of management of an immobilizer, the module of engine management (ECM) which is built in a key head the transponder and being a part of assembly of the cylinder of the lock of ignition the antenna module are among components of system of an immobilization of the engine.


The antenna module at introduction of a key to the lock of ignition accepts the identification code transferred by the transponder and transfers it on the module control of an immobilizer which compares it to the reference code registered in the memory. At discrepancy of codes turning of a key in the situation ST will lead to start of the engine which, however, will spontaneously decay already some seconds later.

Activation of an immobilizer comes automatically at extraction of a key from the ignition lock, and also about 60 seconds later after turning of a key in situation ACC or OFF. Inclusion of an indicator lamp in the flashing mode (lasting gleams 0.2 with and pauses in 2.8 c) testifies to successful activation of system.

At violation of serviceability of functioning of an immobilizer the indicator lamp continues to shine after turning of the ignition key in the situation ON.

When replacing the module of ignition, replacing keys or acquisition of an additional key, it is necessary to make procedure of its adaptation of the operating elements of system. The essence of procedure consists in initialization of an immobilizer and re-registration of an identification code. Initialization of system leads to cleaning of memory of the module of management then it can be registered to four new keys (transponders).

Each set of keys (no more than 4 pieces) has to be registered only on one module of management. Told means that when replacing the module registration of old keys on the replaceable module is not represented possible and all set is also subject to replacement.

Registration of keys has to be made in the conditions of firm car repair shop with use of the firm reader Subaru (SSM) and the special software access to which of reasons of privacy is strictly limited.

Diagnostics of malfunctions

Reading of codes of malfunctions (DTC)


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Prepare the special firm reader Subaru (SSM), - connect to it a diagnostic cable, establish a cartridge.
2. Connect a reader cable to the diagnostic DLC socket located at the left under the dashboard.
3. Include ignition (the engine do not start) and activate food of SSM.
4. In the main screen menu (Main Menu) of SSM select item {Each System Check} and press the YES key.
5. In subsection {System Selection Menu} select item {Engine Control System}, confirm a choice with pressing of the YES key.
6. After information on type of the engine is displayed press the YES key once again.
7. In the field {Engine Diagnosis} select item { Diagnostic Code (s) } and press the YES key.
8. Depending on an objective choose in the field { Diagnostic Code (s) of Display } the screen point { Current Diagnostic Code (s) } (The current diagnostic codes) or { History Diagnostic Code (s) } (Background), - confirm a choice with pressing of the YES key.
9. Consider the codes displayed the display and make necessary corrections. The DTC list is provided in Specifications at the beginning of the Head.


Cleaning of memory of the processor

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Enter subsection {Engine Control System}.
2. After information on type of the engine is displayed press the YES key.
3. In the field {Engine Diagnosis} select item {Clean Memory} and press the YES key.
4. After a conclusion to the screen of the display of the message of "Done" It (is executed) and "Turn Ignition Switch OFF" (Switch off ignition) disconnect SSM and switch off ignition.
5. After cleaning of memory of the processor it is necessary to make initialization of system of stabilization of turns of idling (ISC), - turn the ignition key in the situation ON and, not less than 3 seconds later, start the engine (only models with AT).


Checks

Check of the interface

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 The line of communication between the module of management of an immobilizer and ECM can be checked in the mode { System Operation Check Mode } SSM ("interface check").

1. Connect SSM and in subsection of the menu {System Operation Check Mode} select item {Immobilizer System}, - the type of the SSM screen upon completion of this procedure is presented on an illustration.

2. The conclusion to the screen of the display of the message of "Communication Line not Shorted", confirms serviceability of the interface if the message is not displayed, execute check on the P1572 code (see below), make necessary corrections.


Check of a chain of an indicator lamp of an immobilizer

The scheme of connection of an indicator lamp of an immobilizer is submitted on an illustration.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Switch off ignition, disconnect an electrical wiring from the module of management of an immobilizer, connect the resistor on 750 Ohms between the plug No. 9 of the contact socket of an electrical wiring of the module of management and mass of the chassis. If the indicator lamp is not activated, the following three stages of check can be lowered.
2. Measure resistance between No. No. 2 plugs (+) and 3 (+) of the B141 socket of the module of management and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes less than 10 Ohms, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise eliminate break in a chain of grounding of the module of management.
3. Include ignition (the engine do not start) and measure tension between the plug No. 12 (+) of the B141 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes more than 10 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise check for existence of signs of break and short circuit an electrical wiring on a chain site between the module of management of an immobilizer and the switch of ignition.
4. Switch off ignition and measure tension between No. No. 10 plugs (+) both 11 (+) of the B141 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes more than 10 V, replace the module of management (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine), otherwise check for existence of signs of break and short circuit an electrical wiring on a chain site between the module of management of an immobilizer and a safety lock.
5. Remove a combination of devices and measure tension between the plug No. 7 (+) of the i12 socket (4-cylinder models)/№№ 9 (+) and 1 (+) of i10 and i12 sockets respectively (6-cylinder models) and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes more than 10 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise check for existence of signs of break and short circuit an electrical wiring on a chain site between a combination of devices and a safety lock.
6. Measure resistance between the plug No. 9 of the B141 socket and the plug No. 1 of the i12 socket (4-cylinder models)/№ 13 sockets of i10 (6-cylinder models). If the result of measurement makes more than 10 Ohms, replace the printed-circuit board of a combination of prior with the failed light-emitting diode of an indicator lamp, otherwise repair an electrical wiring / the contact socket.


Check of a chain of the alarm switch of a key

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the alarm switch. Turn a key in the ignition lock in situation ACC or LOCK and measure tension between the plug No. 2 (+) of the B74 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes more than 10 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise check for existence of signs of break and short circuit an electrical wiring on a chain site between the alarm switch and a safety lock.

2. Turn a key in the ignition lock in the situation OFF or ASS and measure resistance between plugs No. 1 and No. 2 of the contact socket of the alarm switch. If the result of measurement makes less than 1 Ohm, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise replace the alarm switch.
3. Take a key from the lock of ignition and repeat the previous check. If the result of measurement makes more than 1 megohm, pass to the final stage of check, otherwise replace the alarm switch.
4. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the alarm switch and the module of management of an immobilizer. Measure resistance between the plug No. 1 of the B74 socket and the plug No. 4 of the B141 socket. If the result of measurement makes less than 10 Ohms, replace the module of management (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine), pass to the following stage of check, otherwise repair an electrical wiring on a chain site between the alarm switch and the module of management.


Discrepancy of an identification code (DTC P1571)

Execute procedure of registration of a key. If it is not possible to register a key, replace the module of management of an immobilizer (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine) and ECM (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).

Violation in a line of communication between ECM and the module of management of an immobilizer (DTC P1572)

Switch off ignition, disconnect an electrical wiring from the module of management of an immobilizer and measure tension between No. No. 10 plugs (+) both 11 (+) of the B141 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement leaves more than 10 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise check for existence of signs of break and short circuit an electrical wiring on a chain site between the module of management and a safety lock.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Include ignition (the engine do not start) and measure tension between the plug No. 12 (+) of the B141 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement leaves more than 10 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise check for existence of signs of break and short circuit an electrical wiring on a chain site between the module of management and the switch of ignition.
2. Switch off ignition and measure resistance between No. No. 2 plugs (+) both 3 (+) of the B141 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement leaves less than 10 Ohms, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise eliminate break in a chain of grounding of the module of management of an immobilizer.
3. Disconnect an electrical wiring from modules of management of an immobilizer and the engine and measure resistance between the plug No. 1 of the B141 socket and No. 22 (4-cylinder models)/№ 5 (6-cylinder models) the B135 socket. If the result of measurement leaves less than 10 Ohms, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise eliminate break of an electrical wiring on a chain site between modules of management.
4. Measure resistance between the plug No. 6 of the B141 socket and No. 23 (4-cylinder models)/№ 14 (6-cylinder models) the B135 socket. If the result of measurement leaves less than 10 Ohms, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise eliminate break of an electrical wiring on a chain site between modules of management.
5. Include ignition (the engine do not start) and measure tension between No. No. 1 plugs (+) both 6 (+) of the B141 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes 0 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise eliminate the reason of short circuit (in the line of giving of food or ignition) an electrical wiring on a chain site between modules of management.
6. Measure tension between No. No. 22 plugs (+) and 23 (+) (4-cylinder models)/5 (+) and 14 (+) (6-cylinder models) and the mass of the power unit. If the result of measurement makes 0 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise eliminate the reason of short circuit (in the line of giving of food or ignition) an electrical wiring on a chain site between modules of management.
7. Connect an electrical wiring to ECM and disconnect it from the module of management of an immobilizer and execute check of the interface. At a conclusion to the screen of the monitor of the message on short circuit of a line of communication to the weight/battery (Commun. Line Shorted to Ground/Battery) replace ECM (see the Head of the Power supply system and release) and execute procedure of adaptation of elements of an immobilizer. If on the screen the message of "Communication Line not Shorted" is displayed, replace the module of management of an immobilizer (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).

 The conclusion to the screen of the monitor of the message on a timeout ("Check (Time Out)") means need of repetition of check of the interface.


Violation of serviceability of communication of a key (DTC P1574)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

44 Insert a key into the ignition lock (in the situation LOCK) and trace change of tension between plugs No. No. 1 and 2 of the contact B142 socket of the antenna module of an immobilizer. During about 0.1 with the ambassador of introduction of a key tension has to lie in the range of-30 ÷ 30 Century. If later about 1 about tension vanishes (0 V), pass to the following stage of check, otherwise. Replace the module of management of an immobilizer (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).
45 Take a key from the lock of ignition and make attempt of start of the engine other registered key. If the engine is started, replace a faulty key (complete with the transponder) and register replaceable, otherwise replace the module of management (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).


Attempt of use of a key with the unregistered transponder (DTC P0153)

Execute procedure of registration of all set of keys, in case of need replace all set, or replace the module of management (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).

Refusal of re-recorded ROM (EEPROM) of ECM (DTC P1576)

Replace ECM (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).

Refusal of re-recorded ROM (EEPROM) of the module of management of an immobilizer (DTC P1577)

Replace the module of management (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).

Violation of serviceability of functioning of the antenna module of an immobilizer (DTC P1570)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Switch off ignition, disconnect an electrical wiring of the antenna module from the module of management and measure resistance between plugs No. 1 and No. 2 of the B142 Socket. If the result of measurement makes less than 10 Ohms, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise replace the antenna module.

2. Measure resistance between plugs No. No. 1 and 2 of the B142 socket and mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes more than 10 Ohms, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise replace the antenna module.
3. Include ignition and measure tension between the plug No. 1 (+) of the B142 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes 0 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise replace the antenna module.
4. Include ignition and measure tension between the plug No. 2 (+) of the B142 socket and the mass of the chassis. If the result of measurement makes 0 V, pass to the following stage of check, otherwise repair an electrical wiring on a chain site between the module management and the antenna of an immobilizer.
5. Switch off ignition, connect an antenna electrical wiring to the module of management, insert a key into the lock of ignition and trace change of tension between plugs No. No. 1 and 2 of the contact B142 socket of the antenna module of an immobilizer. During about 0.1 with the ambassador of introduction of a key tension has to lie in the range of-30 ÷ 30 Century. If later about 1 about tension vanishes (0 V), pass to the final stage of check, otherwise. Replace the module of management of an immobilizer (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).
6. Take a key from the lock and make attempt of start of the engine other key with the registered transponder. If the engine is started, replace a faulty key (complete with the transponder) and register replaceable, otherwise replace the module of management (see the Section Removal and installation of components of system of an immobilization of the engine).
