Removal and installation of covers of the GRM drive

General information

Elements of the GRM drive are concluded in space between two, forming the closed casing, covers: forward and back. Both covers are made of an aluminum alloy by a molding method. The two-section design of a casing allows to reduce the level of the noise background made when functioning the chain drive.

As pro-masonry materials between the block of the engine and a back cover of the GRM drive sealing rings, metal laying and sealant are used. Sealant between forward and back covers is used for prevention of leak of oil.

On a joint of a cranked shaft from a forward cover of GRM the ftoruglerodny is established polymericfluorine [?] epiploon.

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a pulley of a cranked shaft (see the Section Removal and installation of a pulley of a cranked shaft).
2. Remove a forward cover of the GRM drive.

 For fastening of a cover of the GRM drive bolts of four types are used, - in order to avoid confusion at an uka spread out raznorazmerny bolts separately.

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Examine a cover on existence of cracks and other mechanical damages.
2. Check the interfaced surface of a cover and a point of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft for existence of signs of development of leak of oil.
3. Replace a defective cover.
4. Carefully smooth out the interfaced cover surface, having completely removed from it traces of material of old sealant, then wipe a surface the rags moistened in acetone.

5. Impose on the interfaced surface a sealant pillow like Three Bond 1280B with a diameter of 2.5±0.5 mm in section, - track that sealant was imposed from the inside from bolted openings.


6. Establish a forward cover of the GRM drive and temporarily tighten bolts of its fastening.

 Roll bolts strictly on the former places.


7. Working strictly in a certain order, tighten fixing bolts with the demanded effort (6.6 Nanometers).


8. Establish a pulley of a cranked shaft (see the Section Removal and installation of a pulley of a cranked shaft).

Back cover

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a pulley of a cranked shaft (see the Section Removal and installation of a pulley of a cranked shaft).
2. Remove a forward cover of the GRM drive (see the previous subsection).
3. Remove a gas-distributing chain (see the Section Removal and installation of gas-distributing chains).
4. Remove asterisks of the drive of camshafts (see the Section Removal and installation of asterisks of the drive of camshafts).

5. Remove an asterisk of a cranked shaft (In) and the oil pump (And).

6. Remove the case of the reducing valve of the oil pump.

Sizes of bolts:
1 and 5 6 x 26
2-4 and 9 6 x 35
6-8 and 10 6 x 16

7. Remove the water pump.

 At emergence of difficulties screw two bolts of M8 in diagonalno the located carving openings (And), - the uniform serial tightening of bolts has to help separation of pump assembly from a back cover of the GRM drive.

8. Turn out fixing bolts and remove a back cover of the GRM drive. Remark: For fastening of a cover of the GRM drive bolts of seven types are used, - in order to avoid confusion at installation spread out raznorazmerny bolts separately.

B: 6 x 18 (silvery)
C: 6 x 30
D: 6 x 18
E: 9 x 40
F: 6 x 30
G: 6 x 22

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Examine a cover on existence of cracks and other mechanical damages.
2. Check the interfaced cover surfaces for existence of signs of development of leak of oil.
3. Replace a defective cover.
4. Carefully smooth out the interfaced cover surfaces, having completely removed from them traces of material of old sealant, then wipe surfaces the rags moistened in acetone.

5. Impose on the interfaced sealant pillow cover surfaces like Three Bond 1280B.

 On designated by a letter And the surface is imposed a pillow of sealant with a diameter of 1.0 ± 0.5 mm in section, on the surfaces designated by a letter In - 3.0 ± 1.0 mm.

6. Establish NEW sealing rings.

And — the Big sealing ring

With — the Small sealing ring

7. Establish a cover and temporarily tighten bolts of its fastening.

 Roll strictly on the former places.

8. Working strictly in a certain order, tighten fixing bolts with the demanded effort.

40 ÷ 46: 9

9. Install the water pump and tighten bolts of its fastening with the demanded effort (6.3 Nanometers).
10. Temporarily tighten bolts of fastening of the case of the reducing valve of the oil pump.
11. Working strictly in a certain order, tighten bolts of fastening of the case of the reducing valve with the demanded effort (6.4 Nanometers).

 Roll bolts strictly on the former places.

12. Install the oil pump (A) and, working strictly in a certain order, tighten bolts of its fastening with the demanded effort (6.4 Nanometers).
13. Further installation is made as it should be, the return to an order of dismantle of components.
