Removal, installation and check of a condition of the module(s) of ignition

4-cylinder models

Removal and installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Previously having marked, disconnect an electrical wiring from bobbin assembly.

3. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the ignition module.

4. Installation is made upside-down, - tighten fixing bolts with the demanded effort (6.4 Nanometers). Track correctness of connection of an electrical wiring, - the mistake at connection can lead to an ignition module exit out of operation!

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. At the switched-off ignition disconnect an electrical wiring from bobbin assembly and measure resistance between plugs No. No. 1 and 2 and No. No. 3 and 4 of the contact socket. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications. Much the underestimated indications testify to existence of short circuit.

2. For check of a secondary contour measure resistance between output plugs of the module of ignition (A-B and C-D).

3. Having measured resistance between primary plug and the case of assembly (the demanded value makes not less than 10 megohms), estimate also an isolation condition
4. The faulty coil is subject to replacement.

6-cylinder models

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. As in system of direct ignition (DIS) of 6-cylinder engines individual bobbin modules, the description of procedures of their removal and installation see in the Section Service and replacement of spark plugs are used. A tightening of fixing bolts it is necessary to make 16 Nanometers with effort.
2. The procedure for test of bobbin assemblies is stated in the Section Check of Serviceability of Functioning of System of Ignition.
