Removal, service and installation of a steering column

 The description of procedures of removal/installation of assembly of the combined understeering switches is provided in the Head Onboard electric equipment.

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Tire out the car on the elevator.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
3. Remove the module of a driver's safety cushion (see the Head Onboard electric equipment).
4. Remove a steering wheel (see the Section Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
5. Lift the car over the earth and remove the cardan hinge of a steering shaft (see the Section Removal, check of a state and installation of the cardan hinge of a steering column).
6. Lower the car and remove section of the lower finishing of the dashboard from the driver's party of salon.

7. Turn out the screw of fastening of the lower cover of a casing of a steering column.

8. Disunite contact sockets of all of the electrical wiring plaits brought to a steering column.

9. Turn out two fastenings of a steering column located under the bolt dashboard.

10. Release assembly of a steering shaft from a foot emphasis of a floor.

DISMANTLING

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 The description of procedures of removal/installation of the combined understeering switches is provided in the Head Onboard electric equipment.

Turn out two screws of fastening of the top cover of a casing of a steering column, and also two screws of fastening of assembly of the combined understeering switches, and remove the corresponding components.

ASSEMBLY

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Establish assembly of the combined switches on the top shaft of a column.
2. Establish the top cover, then pass plaits of an electrical wiring of understeering switches and the switch of ignition between basic to ledges of a cover and tighten fixing screws with the demanded effort (1.2 Nanometers).

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Carefully wipe external surfaces of components of assembly of a steering column pure rags and study their state. Replace defective details.

2. Measure the full length of assembly of a steering column. If the result of measurement exceeds the limit of admissible range (849.7 mm: for the Legacy models and 817.8 mm: for the Outback models), replace assembly.
