The water pump - the general information Pump assembly of the 4-cylinder enginePump assembly of the 6-cylinder engine
Design of the sealing knot providing tightness of assembly of the water pump
The design of the water pumps used on the cars considered in the present manual is shown on illustrations. On 4-cylinder engines (l models 2.0 and 2.5) the water pump is installed in forward part of the left semi-block of cylinders and is put in action by a gas-distributing belt. In an inlet branch pipe in the lower part of pump assembly the thermostat is built in. At rotation of rotors of the pump cooling liquid is soaked up in a working chamber through the lower tube connected to a radiator hose, passing thus through the thermostat. Further, moving on rotor perimeter, it is pushed out in a working contour of the cooling system which configuration is defined by position of the valve of the thermostat. On 6-cylinder engines (model of 3.0 l) the water pump is placed in the casing created by a back cover of the GRM drive. As a sealing element between a pump housing and a casing the rubber ring is established. The drive of the pump is carried out from a gas-distributing chain. Rotation of a rotor in a volume chamber of the pump provides supply of liquid in a contour of a cooling path of the engine. The pump housing is made of aluminum by a molding method under pressure, a rotor - of sheet steel. The shaft of a rotor is fixed in two bearings (ball and roller) and condensed from the oil party by means of an epiploon. The volume chamber is created by deepenings in a back cover of the GRM drive and the top section of the pallet of a case. Between a cover and the pallet metal sealing laying is established. For consolidation of both pump assemblies from cooling liquid the mechanical sealing knot consisting of the ceramic saddle which is densely put on a shaft of a rotor and a coal epiploon is used. The knot is built in pump assembly and to service in an individual order is not subject. |
