Features of control of the all-wheel drive car
Legacy models The full drive distributes an engine torque on all four wheels. Nevertheless, in usual conditions, all-wheel drive cars function practically also, as well as front-wheel. The full drive provides the best coupling with the road at the movement on a slippery, wet or snow-covered paving, and also in cross-country conditions. It is necessary to notice that cars of the considered class, being all-wheel drive, are not among SUVs and are not intended especially for movement on a cross-country terrain. Operation in similar conditions subjects the car to excessive loadings and can lead to premature failure of its many components. For reasons of safety and in order to avoid failure of a suspension bracket and the transmission line follow the following service regulations of the car: a) The all-wheel drive car surpasses front-wheel in passability at the movement uphill on a snow-covered or slippery paving. However behavior of both types of cars almost equally at sharp turns or sharp braking. Therefore at the movement on descent or at turns it is necessary to reduce surely speed and to observe a sufficient distance in relation to other vehicles; b) Never try to pass to a descent on pools or roads covered with water. Hit of water in an air inlet, in system of release or on electric devices can lead to an engine stop, and also to its serious internal damage to result of hydroblow; c) The all-wheel drive car can be used for crossing of the almost impassable sites of the road covered with snow, dirt or sand. However on a design the considered models are not SUVs therefore at the movement on a cross-country terrain it is necessary to observe all precautionary measures ordered for ordinary cars; d) Always check efficiency of functioning of brakes after the movement on sand, dirt or overcoming of a water barrier. It is possible to check brakes by pressing a brake pedal at a small speed. For drying of brake mechanisms several times squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake; e) Use for installation on the car only the tires meeting for the standard size the requirements put on fixed on a body rack Schild. Installation of non-standard tires can lead to serious mechanical damages of the drive and affect controllability the car, not to mention the accuracy of the indication of a speedometer, the odometer and counter of a distance in kilometers of the current trip. Before a long trip do not forget to check pressure of a rating of cold tires (the demanded values are caused on Schild, the driver's door fixed on a back rack); f) Remember that is admissible to establish chains of antisliding only on forward wheels of the car; g) Operation of the all-wheel drive car in intense road conditions (abrupt descents and rises, a high dust content, etc.) demands more frequent replacement of expendables (see the Schedule of routine maintenance in the Head Routine maintenance of the present manual). Outback models The Outback models possess the increased passability, however at operation in usual conditions function to similarly front-wheel cars. Councils for driving of the car in cross-country conditions see in the Section of Feature of operation of the car equipped with the catalytic converter. |
