Switch ignition/lock of blocking of a steering column

The lock of ignition is located on the right on a steering column. The key can occupy one of four fixed provisions in the lock:

LOCK - blocking
ACC - auxiliary consumers of the electric power (parking situation)
ON - ignition is included
START - start of the engine


The situation "LOCK" - blocking

The key can be entered into the lock or is taken from it only in this situation. At turn of the ignition key from the situation "LOCK" in the situation "ACC" there is an unblocking of a steering column. To turn a key from the situation "ACC" in the situation "LOCK", it is necessary to press slightly previously it, having a little drowned in the lock. Besides, on the models equipped with automatic transmission, an additional condition of permission of start is obligatory transfer of the lever of the selector to situation "P".

Blocking the helmsman of a column is carried out automatically in attempt to turn a steering wheel after extraction of a key from the ignition lock.

Blocking the helmsman of a column sometimes brings impossibility to turn a key in the ignition lock. In such situation it is necessary to turn slightly a steering wheel in this or that party (for the purpose of removal of loading), at the same time turning a key in the lock.

 Do not take a key from the lock from the ignition lock during the movement at all! It will inevitably lead to blocking of a steering column and loss of control over management. Take out a key from the lock only after a full stop of the car!


The situation "ACC" - parking

In this position of the ignition key possibility of functioning of auxiliary consumers of the electric power (the audio system, the lighter, the heater fan, screen wipers, etc.) is provided.

The situation "ON" - ignition is included

The ignition key is in this situation constantly during the movement of the car, and also during the operation of the engine on single turns. Electric food of all systems and the additional equipment installed on the car is at the same time provided. At turn of a key from the situation "ACC" the situation "ON" quickly joins some of the control lamps located on an instrument guard of the car, confirming serviceability of functioning of the relevant control systems.

At the corresponding complete set turn of a key in the situation "ON" leads to automatic activation of running fires of light time of day (DRL).

The situation "START" - start

At turn of a key in this situation there is an inclusion of a starter. After implementation of start of the engine the key should be released, and it will automatically return to the situation "ON".

If the car is equipped with system of an immobilization, start of the engine will be blocked if the anticreeping system does not identify a key code (see the Section System of an Immobilization of the Engine).

Illumination of the lock of ignition

For the purpose of simplification of access to the ignition lock in the dark when opening any of car doors (including a back door on the Station wagon models), illumination of the lock is activated. Illumination functions within several seconds after closing of doors, then is gradually disconnected. At introduction of a key to the lock illumination is disconnected instantly.

Illumination of the lock of ignition can be activated also when unlocking the uniform lock from the DU panel (see the Section the Uniform lock (at the corresponding complete set)).


Alarm buzzer "Do not forget to take out the ignition key" (at the corresponding complete set)

On some models opening of a driver's door at the key left in the lock of ignition and turned in the situation LOCK or ASS leads to operation of the special alarm buzzer warning the driver about need to take a key before leaving of the car.
