The switches located on a steering column
Assembly of understeering switches is located on a steering column of the car, directly under a steering wheel, from above on a column there is a push-button switch of parking fires.
The left combined understeering switch (external lighting and alarm devices)
Choice of the mode of functioning of external illuminants

The choice of the mode of functioning of external illuminants (dimensions, passing beam) is made by means of the rotary handle located on the end of the lever of the understeering switch. There is a possibility of a choice of one of three modes of external lighting: |
OFF is switched off.
Marker lights - join lobbies and back marker lights, lamps of illumination of registration plate.
the passing beam - in additives to fires involved in the previous position of the handle is turned on a passing beam of head headlights.
On the models equipped with system of running fires of day time of day (DRL), head headlights automatically are transferred to the mode of a passing beam at ignition inclusion. Back marker lights are also automatically activated.
The majority of models is equipped with the alarm buzzer serving for the warning of the driver of need of shutdown of lighting before an exit from the car. The buzzer works in attempt of opening of a driver's door at the switched-off ignition (a key in the situation LOCK or ASS) in case the handle of a choice of the mode of external lighting is not transferred to the situation "Vykl" (OFF).

Remember that excessively long functioning of external lighting at the killed engine is fraught with replanting of the battery! |
Switching of the modes of functioning of head headlights (passing/driving beam)
|
|
A transfer of head headlights from the mode of a passing beam in the mode of a driving beam is made by push-up of the lever of the understeering switch from itself, - automatically on an instrument guard the corresponding control lamp of characteristic blue light has to light up (see the Section Arrangement of Working Elements). For shutdown of a driving beam return the lever to a starting position. |
Also possibility of the alarm system is provided by a driving beam: the alarm system is carried out by procrastination of the lever of the understeering switch on itself and irrespective of the chosen position of the handle of a choice of the mode of functioning of external illuminants (see above).

Indexes of turns
|
|
Activation of indexes of turns is made by push-up of the lever of the left understeering switch in the respective direction. The lever is transferred up or down, to dependences of the chosen direction of a change of course. |
At transfer of the lever to extreme top/lower situation (before click) the corresponding indexes of turns will continue to function until the steering wheel is not returned in rectilinear situation (will work the terminal switch), or so far the lever will not be returned in neutral situation.
Short-term inclusion of indexes, for example, at intention to replace a lane of the movement is made by easy procrastination of the lever up or down.
Brightness control of illumination of devices
Brightness control of illumination of devices is carried out only in provisions and the rotary handle of a choice of the mode of functioning of external illuminants.

The ring regulator of intensity of illumination is located also on the lever of the left steering switch. |
Switch of parking fires
Parking fires of the car function regardless of position of the switch of ignition.

Along with parking fires also lamps of illumination of registration plate join.

|
In order to avoid replanting of the battery, avoid long inclusion of parking fires. |
The right combined understeering switch (cleaners and washers of a windshield)
Switch of cleaners and washers of a windshield
Activation of cleaners and washers of the wind is possible only at the included ignition (a key in the situation ON or ASS).
For management of cleaners/washers of glasses one of two types of switches is used.
Switch of the first type

|
The first type of the switch is used for management of screen wipers without possibility of adjustment of duration of pauses of the interval mode. In this case the lever of the understeering switch is not equipped with the rotary ring handle. The choice of the mode of functioning of cleaners is made by transfer of the lever to one of four possible provisions:
OFF is switched off
interval mode
LO low-speed mode
HI high-speed mode |
Also possibility of single operation of cleaners is provided, - rather slightly to delay the lever of the understeering switch on itself. This function is especially useful at the movement in fog or under a drizzle.

|
Inclusion of washers of glass is made by means of the lever of the push-button switch which is built in an end face of the handle, - liquid will move on glass until the button of the switch remains pressed.
|
|
Supply of the washing liquid is followed by several cycles of operation of screen wipers. |
|
Switch of the second type
|
|
The switch of this type provides possibility of adjustment of duration of pauses of the interval mode. The mentioned adjustment is carried out by rotation of the ring switch which is built in the central part of the handle of the lever of the understeering switch. Inclusion of all functions is made also as well as on the switch of the first type. |
Switch of a cleaner and washer of back glass (Legacy Versatile person and Outback)
Cleaner/washer of back glass are activated only at the included ignition (a key will turn in the situation ON or ASS).

|
Inclusion of a cleaner is made by rotation of the face handle of the lever of the right understeering switch. The cleaner has only one operating mode of functioning: interval which inclusion is made by the translation of the handle from the situation OFF in the situation ON by rotation clockwise. |
For giving on back glass of the washing liquid at the working screen wiper it is necessary to turn the handle in extreme top situation (), - liquid will move on glass until the handle is not released.
Also possibility of giving on glass of the washing liquid without start of screen wipers is provided, - turn the lever handle counterclockwise, - liquid will move until the handle is not released.
Precautionary measures when using of cleaners and washers of glasses
Attempts of start of screen wipers at the brushes which froze slightly to glass are fraught with an electric motor exit out of operation as a result of an overheat, - previously glass should be cleared of ice/snow and to warm up by an obduv hot air (see Part D of the present Chapter).
Avoid activation of cleaners at a dry surface of glass, is it is fraught with emergence of scratches on glass, and also considerably reduces service life of rubber working elements of brushes.
It is not necessary to include a washer continuously more than for 20 seconds, also avoid inclusion of washers at the empty tank, is it is fraught with failure of a driving electric motor of the giving pump. Periodically check liquid level in the tank, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see the Head Routine maintenance).
In a cold season fill in only special frost-resistant structures in the tank of washers of glasses, - freezing of the washing liquid can lead to failure of the tank and tubes of the giving path.
Before use of washers in cold weather previously warm up glass, - frosting of glass can lead to dangerous deterioration of the review to the driver.
Understeering switch of management of functioning of a tempostat
The switch of management of functioning of a tempostat is located helmsman columns below than the right combined understeering switch.

Switch of fog lights

|
Fog lights can be activated only at the included marker lights (active provisions of the switch of the modes of external illuminants) and are automatically disconnected at switching off of the last. For activation of fog lights press the button of the switch which is built in the dashboard. The control lamp reminding to the driver that fog lights remain included is built in the button of the switch. Shutdown of headlights is carried out by repeated pressing the button. |
Switch of back foggy lamps

|
Activation of back foggy lamps becomes possible only at the included head and/or forward fog lights (at the corresponding complete set). For inclusion of foggy lamps press the button of the switch which is built in in the dashboard (directly under the button of inclusion of fog lights). The control lamp reminding to the driver that foggy lamps remain included on an instrument guard of the car also is built in the button the corresponding control lamp lights up (see above). Shutdown of lamps is carried out by repeated pressing the button.

Foggy lamps are disconnected automatically together with head headlights / ignition, and the subsequent their activation perhaps only by means of a switch reuse. |

Regulator of an inclination of optical axes of head headlights
For adjustment of a distance of lighting (at inclusion of a passing beam) not to blind drivers of oncoming cars, it is possible to use the regulator of an inclination of optical axes of headlights.

The regulator has to be installed in the situation
(according to table 1) corresponding to number of passengers and extent of loading of the car. |

Switch of the alarm system
|
|
Turning on of the alarm system is made by means of the push-button switch which is built in in the central part of the dashboard of the car between deflectors of the central air ducts and usually equipped with an alarm lamp with the pictogram representing two triangles entered each other. |
Turning on of the alarm system leads to simultaneous operation of all four indexes of turns (and their control lamps on an instrument guard of the car). The alarm system is intended for the warning of other participants of traffic of the compelled stop of the car and is used also in other dangerous situations provided by traffic regulations.
Switch of an electrical heating of back glass / external rear-view mirrors
Inclusion of an electrical heating allows to remove from a surface of back glass of condensate, hoarfrost, and even thin frost. The button of inclusion of an electrical heating is located on the control panel of the air conditioning system.

On appropriately equipped models along with heating of back glass joins as well heating of external rear-view mirrors. |
At inclusion of heating the light indicator which is built in the switch button lights up.
Shutdown of heating is made by repeated pressing the button, or 15 minutes later after inclusion on a signal of the special timer.

|
Functioning of a heating element becomes possible only in the position ON of the switch of ignition. Transfer of a key to situation ACC or LOCK heating is disconnected automatically.
|
Do not forget to check before a start of motion quality of the review through back glass of the car.
The threadlike grid of a heating element of a heater is pasted on an internal surface of back glass and demands care in the address, - try not to damage a grid when wiping glass. Wiping should be made only along heater threads.
The windshield electrical heating switch in a zone of parking provision of brushes
Functioning of heating elements becomes possible only at the included ignition (a key in the situation ON).
Activation of heating is made by means of the special push-button switch equipped with the built-in control lamp. Before including heating remove snow from a windshield.
Shutdown of heating is made by repeated pressing the button, or 15 minutes later after inclusion on a signal of the special timer.

Functioning of a heating element becomes possible only in the position ON of the switch of ignition. At transfer of a key to situation ACC or LOCK heating is disconnected automatically. |
Switch of adjustment of provision of rear-view mirrors
|
|
The switch of adjustment of rear-view mirrors is located in the top part of an armrest of a driver's door of the car and consists of the selector polzunkovy switch of a choice of the mirror which is subject adjustments and the four-directed joystick switch actually of adjustment of provision of the chosen mirror. |
For a choice of the mirror which is subject to adjustment transfer the polzunkovy switch located in the top part of assembly to the relevant provision (R - the right mirror or L - the left mirror). Adjustment of provision of the chosen mirror is made by means of the four-directed joystick switch in compliance by the shooters represented on it (updown / vpravo-vlevo)).
Having finished adjustment, in order to avoid casual failure of adjustment, do not forget to transfer the selector switch to neutral (central) situation.
The switch of heating of external rear-view mirrors (at the corresponding complete set)

On some models possibility of activation of heating of external rear-view mirrors from the individual push-button switch equipped with the built-in control lamp which is built in in the lower part of assembly of management of functioning of the electric drive of mirrors is provided. |
Heating functions only at the included ignition (the position ON or ASS of the ignition key). For shutdown of heating it is necessary to press the button repeatedly, - the control lamp has to go out.
Switching of the modes of a saloon rear-view mirror

|
The saloon rear-view mirror has two fixed situation: day and night. Switching is made by means of the mirror which is built in in the lower part of a spherical support a rychazhka. |
Illumination of salon
Main saloon lamp

|
The lamp is located in forward part of the ceiling arch of the car and equipped with the three-position polzunkovy switch. The switch allows to make lighting shutdown, its inclusion in the constant mode, and also to activate the mode of operation of the lamp when opening doors. |
Illumination of a luggage compartment
|
|
One more lamp is installed in a luggage compartment of the car. The lamp is also equipped with the three-position polzunkovy switch allowing to choose one of three modes of lighting. |
The individual directed lamps (mate lamps)
|
|
Activation of the directed lamps is made by means of the individual push-button switches which are built in in assembly of the ceiling console. |
Lighter
|
|
The lighter is built in in the panel of facing of a forward ashtray (see below) on the central section of finishing of the dashboard, to the right of a forward ashtray and functions only at the included ignition (a key in the situation ON or ASS). |
For activation of the lighter simply drown its button in a reception nest against the stop, - after warming up of a heating element the button will automatically jump out in a starting position.
|
|
Do not hold the lighter button in the pressed situation by force at all! If the lighter button after pressing does not jump out more than 30 seconds later, the car should be driven away on car repair shop for elimination of the malfunction taking place. After use do not forget to return the button in a nest (in order to avoid a contamination of the last). |
The reception nest of the lighter can be used for connection of the external consumers of the electric power (the pump, the charger for a radio telephone, the vacuum cleaner) calculated on food in 12 V and with a power of consumption no more than 120 W.
Ashtrays
Forward ashtray

The sliding forward ashtray is built in in the central (console) section of finishing of the dashboard. |
For opening of an ashtray pull it on yourself.
To take an ashtray for a clearing extend it outside against the stop, then wring out a lock uvula and release from a reception niche.
Back ashtrays

|
The back ashtray has a folding design and is built in in a back face wall of the central console. |
For extraction of an ashtray extend it against the stop, wring out a lock uvula and release from a reception niche.
Ware boxes
Main ware box
|
|
The main ware box is located under the dashboard of the car on the right and equipped with the lock. |
For opening of a box pull the handle of its lock up. In a box the illumination which is automatically joining when opening a door is provided.
Watch that during the movement the cover of a ware box was densely closed.
Box on the central console
|
|
One more ware box is provided in back part of the central console, in the closed state carrying out also an armrest role. For opening of a cover simply pull its first line up. |
Coasters
The folding coaster is built in in the dashboard more to the right of the control panel by functioning of the air conditioning system. The order of use of this coaster is shown on sopr. illustrations.

|
One stationary coaster is provided in the central part of console assembly, sideways from the lever of raising of the parking brake. |
|
|
Two more sliding coasters are located under a cover in back part of the central console, directly under a back ashtray. |
Sun-protection peaks
|
|
Sun-protection peaks provide protection of eyes of the driver / the forward passenger from dazzle with direct sunshine both in front, and sideways. |
|
|
In a passenger sun-protection peak the toilet pocket mirror equipped with a folding cover is built in addition in. Opening of a cover of a pocket mirror at the included ignition (a key in the situation ON or ASS) leads to activation of illumination of a pocket mirror. |
Hooks for clothes
|
|
On the Sedan models Legacy hooks for hanging of clothes are fixed on the loopy handles located lengthways the upper edges of apertures of back doors of the car. |
|
|
On the Station wagon models Legacy and Outback besides hooks on loopy handles over apertures of back doors two more hooks from both parties of a luggage compartment are provided. |
